The dwelling is different in its design in that the lower storey will contain all sleeping and sanitary accommodation, whilst the upper floor will be a large open plan living / dining / kitchen area. To allow for the large open plan first floor the dwelling will utilise a large glulam timber frame with all timbers exposed (including the large feature trusses for the vaulted ceiling).

Byford Lodge, Louth
ldc were appointed to develop the proposed conversion and alteration of existing garage to form holiday cottage in Louth. The owners of the existing dwelling wished to convert their existing garage into a holiday cottage in the centre of Louth.
In order to do this the proposals provided a new extension whilst retaining the existing garage structure and form (due to planning restrictions in the Louth town centre conservation area). Working within the limits of the existing headroom and providing drainage to the site would have been problematic if it wasn’t for having discussions on the proposals prior to and during construction. Even in such a small conversion there were still some difficulties which we had to work together to overcome with regards to fire escape (as the conversion was to a holiday cottage) - the result is a 5* holiday cottage which the client is extremely happy with.

Thomas Centre
The Thomas Centre, Covenham is a unique facility that specialises in autism friendly holidays.
ldc were appointed to undertake the design of an extension to an existing swimming pool building. The design brief required the creation of new changing room facilities, storage area and gymnasium that worked within the constraints of an existing outbuilding.
ldc produced a design solution that maintained the existing traditional character of the building and fulfilled the brief creating new facilities that are fully DDA compliant.
ldc have taken this project from the initial concept through the Planning and Building Control stages to the overseeing the project onsite, which should be completed in summer 2012.

Office Refurbishment
ldc was commissioned to undertake the re-design of an existing office building at Tri-Pack Grimsby. The project involved the redesign of the internal office spaces and external façades. The client set a challenging brief to create a contemporary office setting within the constraints of the existing building.
ldc developed a concept that borrowed traits from Scandinavian design to create a modern open plan office environment. The design uses clean lines and simple natural materials to create a series of light and airy spaces connected by a simple circulation route.
