Wherry's Lane

The development provides high-quality, contemporary housing on an existing brown-field site close to the centre of Bourne. The site’s location provided a unique opportunity to create a landmark residential development that will contribute to the regeneration of the town centre.

The development was designed to take reference from the existing four-storey mill building on the corner of Burghley Street and Wherry’s Lane and also wider references from the typically Georgian and Victorian Vernacular present in the Town Centre, and rework these in a contemporary language.

The form of the proposed buildings are simple, pitched roof, terraced buildings. The window fenestration is rigorous in its ordered arrangement similar to the adjacent mill building however windows have been increased in size with a simplified detail to provide a contemporary appearance and fill the proposed apartments with natural light.
